Four of Pentacles & Ace of Swords: Next Clear Step

I think people have pretty much always lamented how awful the world is. There’s plenty of stuff to feel bothered over, if you’re looking around for it.

But what if that “wrong” that we see is a force for good?

It’s what people see as “wrong” that directs thought towards what they see as right. It becomes an  impetus of growth and evolution. Sometimes it’s painful and messy. Renovation work can be a little chaotic in progress. But that doesn’t make the end result any less lovely.

Four of Pentacles & Ace of Swords: Next Clear Step 1

Out of manure, beautiful flowers bloom.

Nowadays, I try to be respectful of everyone’s intention, whether or not I agree with any part of it. I want to be more kind. The trick to reaching for greater kindness is stepping back from judgement.

It’s tempting to measure everything against the yardstick of “What would I do?” But everyone isn’t me! We’ve lived different lives. We’ve interpreted our experiences in ways specific to our beliefs and whatever influences we were feeling at the time.

I don’t need to fault someone for being who they are, nor plot how I will straighten them out. My job is loving, not fixing. Sometimes, that’s harder to manage of the two approaches, but always worth the trouble.

Four of Pentacles & Ace of Swords: Next Clear Step 2

We have the week’s forecast coming in as the Four of Pentacles, with advice from the Ace of Swords–cards from the lovely Star Tarot deck.

It’s an interesting rendition of the Four–the stone portal dominates, with the symbols of the four elements on each corner. Now the scene features a swan and is guarded by a dragonfly. You think there are some important changes being referenced? Because that symbolism pretty much screams change.

That portal isn’t flimsy. It’s solid and the foundation for change is just as solid. Tarot fours are a stable energy. So throughout this week, expect whatever exists is a sturdy foundation for what’s to come, regardless of whether or not it’s clear how exactly that all fits together.

The most involved, most complicated changes have multiple layers. The Universe orchestrates this, not the individual. At least, if you want it done well, you back off.

Let the Universe do its job and orchestrate, will ya?

The Ace of Swords suggests an aim for clear and focused thought. Any action taken should be decisive under this influence, but not taken until the path appears natural, the obvious next step. Not rushing to the end of the race, mind you. NEXT CLEAR STEP. Next clear step. That’s all you’re aiming for here.

The Ace of Swords does not need to backtrack or second-guess. The Ace is also not rushed, because once that clear choice is made, the energy moves fast. So don’t move until you’ve ready and you know you’re ready because you’re sure. There’s no angst about the decisions here. You will know.

In short: It’s not up to you to line up all the pieces next week. Just stay focused on the next clear step in your own lane. That’s all you need.

Give me a holler if you’d like some help getting your focus on. And have a great week!

Peace Out.

Three of Wands Rx: Making Good of What You Get

I grew up knowing I was loved. I felt safe and well-cared for. Those feelings were deeply embedded in my everyday existence and extended far beyond an individual sense of well-being.

I basically saw the world and everything it was just as fine as it was. Including me!

I was smart enough to realize there was room for improvement but in the bigger picture, I just didn’t worry about the improvements coming together. I had a deep, abiding sense all was on track. I wished good for all without tasking myself the job of managing it.

Life was pretty simple that way.

Three of Wands Rx: Making Good of What You Get 3

Mom had these all over the place when I was little; one whiff and boom! I’m six again.

Somewhere along the way, I lost that sense. Most of us do. Maybe it’s a by-product of growing up and becoming socialized.

But you know what? That sense of overriding faith is valuable. Even now, I see it as well worth cultivating.

My actions may not make big ripples in the world. My thoughts may not sway the masses. My sense of the best way to live may not matter to anybody else. But none of that needs to happen.

I want to amplify what I find good.  And I find making the best of what I’ve got, remaining optimistic and wishing well upon the world all to be good.

Next week, it’s good time to make the best of what you’ve got. So sayth the Tarot to me, anywho.

tarot cards

So that’s what happens if you let your camera do “night mode” to keep the black cards from reflecting the flash.

The outlook for next week is the Three of Wands. Advice came in with two cards sticking together–the Ten of Pentacles and Nine of Cups. All of these are from my well-worn Legacy of the Divine deck and note that all of them appeared reversed. (I turned them upright for the photo.)

For a reversed Three of Wands as a forecast, you can expect the essence of what you’ve been looking for–although likely, not in the form imagined. Look for the heart, the feelings of what you want even if it’s coming in a different outfit, okay? Because it is there. The question is more, will you be able to recognize it?

For advice, we got some super lovely, super positive cards, but also reversed. This is coming across as a very strong call to make the best of what you’ve got and trust, believe–yes even know–it’s all good.

Somebody could win the lotto, and be unhappy it wasn’t a big enough jackpot. Or somebody can not know what tomorrow will bring but still feel blessed right to have another day to breathe in the air and admire the flowers.

That sense of well-being isn’t an outside job. It’s not a reflection of circumstance. Circumstances can give us a temporary blip or boost but those sways never last. It’s what you produce internally that lasts.

Make it a good week. I know you can!

And if you want to hook up, give me a holler. I’ll be glad to do my best to help you find the groove that works for you.

Empress & Queen of Fire: Heart has the Answers

I’ve been thinking about how much more complicated life becomes when trying to accommodate other people’s wishes for us.

Damn near everyone has very specific notions of how they’d like to see us behave. Even strangers! But that doesn’t mean it’s a sound idea to acquiesce no matter who it’s coming from.

Trouble is, nobody else can make you happy. You cannot make anyone else happy. For each individual, happiness is a choice. We have no control over how anyone thinks or what they want from us. So why nominate ourselves to manage it?

There is generally self-deception in jumping through hoops to please others. We tell ourselves we’re hoping to make that person happy or spare them some discomfort. We want to make things better. We tell ourselves they need us to fix something or that it’s our responsibility to do what’s demanded of us.

The discomfort that’s avoided is actually personal. If we do what we’re “supposed to do,” then we can take that as proof we’re a good person. If we jump through hoops to please or save another, then we can tell ourselves we’re being kind and loving and helpful.

But kindness and love and caring are not actions–they are states of being. Specifically, they are states of being that don’t require a committee to achieve.

To be a loving person, feel love. To be a kind person, think kind thoughts. To be a supportive person, believe in those you would encourage.  You become who you are by way of the feelings you feed, which in turn informs the actions you choose to take.

I see this as so much easier than I used to. I get my feelings on straight FIRST. Then, I see what actions feel best in my heart, where I feel inspired, what most closely reflects what I actually feel good about.

Nobody else needs a vote.

Next week, I’d recommend that approach.

Empress & Queen of Fire: Heart has the Answers 4

This week’s forecast comes in the maternal form of the Empress, with advice as the Queen of Wands (here, Fire) from the Good Tarot.

Think in terms of the world being pregnant with potential. Lots being birthed and unearthed and coming into being right now.

And what do we do in the midst of all this? The Queen of Fire is unequivocal: follow your passion. Let your heart guide you.

I woke up with this song playing loud on the psychic soundtrack.

For me, it just reinforces the theme of self-direction. One aside, however: considering the topic of this song and the Empress showing up, be aware of the potential for pregnancy. ‘Nuff said.

Follow your heart. It won’t lead you astray.

Temperance & The Sun: Airtime for Optimism

“Give optimism at least as much airtime as anxiety.”

I heard these words coming out of my mouth recently, and it struck me even then, this is damn good advice.

How you feel is how you feel. There are no right or wrong feelings. There’s never cause to feel guilty over having any particular feelings we don’t like. Feelings are an amazing source of guidance and there’s every reason to be appreciative of each and every one of them!

But that doesn’t mean we have to constantly swim in feelings that are disruptive. We definitely have a choice of which feelings we feed our energy to–determining which feelings grow and gain momentum through our focus.

I remind myself regularly:  I am out here preaching to stay connected and grow your faith. I encourage people to remain optimistic and work directly with their intuition to create the best outcomes. I tout self-care, love, optimism and directing energy consciously.  So it behoves me to walk the talk.

One way to do this is making the choice to give my optimism more airtime. Next week is a great opportunity to practice that, so sayth the cards.

Next Week in Tarot

Temperance & The Sun: Airtime for Optimism 5

Here, we have forecast in the form of Patience–a lovely rendition of Temperance. And the advice card this week is The Sun. There cards are from the completely elegant Good Tarot Deck.

I don’t always read Temperance as strictly a matter of patience, although it’s easy enough to see the element of patience being relevant in the card’s meaning. With the traditional version of this card, there is an angel mixing fire and water. The theme is of various, disparate elements coming together in a cohesive whole. The angel managing the operation suggests otherworldly intervention here.

Having the faith and willingness to step back from any sort of dogmatic advocacy for any particular side, instead letting it all come together organically, would be required to let this card do its work. So yes, patience would be an undeniable asset!

Be willing to acknowledge the bigger picture you are not yet able to see. Nurture a feeling of knowing if you can summon it, or faith if you cannot, that all will come together as it should.

Be as happy, carefree and trusting as you can manage. Expect the best. Look for the sunshine and appreciate every single ray of it that strikes you. Optimism is your ally. Make use of it.

Are you finding some optimism?

Hierophant & Knight of Pentacles: Working Out

I had thought I was going to slide under the radar during the recent eclipse cycle. I’d hoped Mercury retrograde wouldn’t notice me. I’d just keep my head down and my mouth shut and I’d slip through it without issue.

Silly me!

Eclipse day, I had a hard drive failure.

Actually, failure isn’t the right word. “Capital-D Die” would be a more accurate description. Since it was not on my main computer, I was still able to function. So that helped.

But the dead hard drive that held about a thousand recipes, pictures and posts I use for my low carb Facebook page. So yes, still kind of a big deal.

There were backups, of course…all on the same hard drive. Because la-la-life-is-wonderful-Dixie somehow hadn’t thought about backing up on a different drive. Even though the computer was old and had shown signs of impending doom, my unfailing optimism was able to just erase the symptoms from my conscious awareness. Neat trick, huh?

Funny thing, though. It took me approximate 3 seconds to realize, this event was decidedly not a catastrophe.

My content had grown stale. But it was THERE, so it was easy enough to just let it ride, you know? I’d considered switching tools, but put it off because of the need to re-do everything. My system was working. I realized it needed some fresh life, but it wasn’t a priority so it didn’t end up getting any love because it wasn’t a fire.

This event forced me to look at the work I’m doing with fresh eyes–and bring fresh energy to it.

I surrendered to the reality almost immediately, because what choice do you have? And in doing so, I saw how the situation was in the big picture, a boon.

I didn’t need to wish away the circumstance. I needed adjust my thinking, which can be done very quickly and easily if you’re open to doing so.

Next week? Do that.

Hierophant & Knight of Pentacles: Working Out 6

For outlook this week, we have the Hierophant and the advice is the Messenger of Earth (aka Knight of Pentacles) from the visually evocative deck, The Good Tarot.

Everything will come together as needed–the Hierophant is unfailingly competent. When this spiritual leader shows up, calling upon your faith or actively practicing spirituality to maintain equilibrium is never a bad play.

That knight showing up as advice veritably screamed Mercury Retrograde (the time when communications and electronics tend to go a little haywire). We are still in the midst, in case you were wondering.

So check your facts and then go back and check them again. Stay organized. Be conscientious. Measured, practical, consistent steps yield the best outcome here.

Keep your head about you and don’t freak out no matter what. Make “It’s all working out for me” your mantra, and so it will be.

It’s all working out. Really. Are you feeling it?

Need a little help staying centered? Give me a shout and we’ll talk.

Ten of Pentacles & Two of Swords: Madness versus Magic

Yes, sometimes people see the same events but it’s like they are watching two different movies. It’s easy to see out in the world, to a stunning degree.

But you can generate the very same phenomena on an individual level as well.

Looking at the same circumstance in two different states of mind will give you two, very different conclusions.

Madness versus magic is a matter of perspective right now. It’s up to you to choose which you want.

And that’s the theme of the forecast this week.

Next Week in Tarot

ten of pentacles two of swords tarot

This week, we’ve got the Ten of Pentacles (outlook) and the Two of Swords (advice) from the Star Tarot deck.

I expect the week to be good with one caveat: you have to DECIDE that will be good.

We’re so used checking outside conditions to confirm or deny our personal state. It’s easy to become anxious, compulsively taking score to decide if we’re doing well enough “to relax” or not.

How much money is in the bank or how did that conversation go or how’s that health condition doing? Too often, we decide how we are by looking around. It’s like we’ve abdicated the responsibility–read, control–for personal well-being to the world at large.

There is no real safety in having a solid job or stable relationship or good health or whatever measurement one uses asa personal hallmark of security.  Security via outside forces is always an illusion. Circumstances can and do change. Determining personal stability via the outside trappings is always a precarious position.

Now, I’m not implying any particular circumstance isn’t meaningful to us individually.Wanting specifics in our life is not inappropriate in any way.

But don’t depend on it! Start by assuming your own capabilities, worth and competence. Expect that even if some aspects of your life is not exactly what you want currently, it’s okay. You’ll figure it out as you go.

It helps to remember that peace of mind is internal. As such, it cannot be granted or snatched away by any outside force, because there is no outside force that bestows the peace. Instead, it’s how we think about those outer circumstances and our own ability to deal with them that grants peace of mind.

Perhaps this seems like mere semantics, but it’s not.

If I need something external to feel okay, then I’m never really free (or safe).

So many times people agonize over decisions, not wanting to make the wrong choice and somehow jeopardize their happiness or well-being. Hiccups come not so much from which choices made as they do from splitting our energy after we make the choices.

The worries, the second-guessing, the stressing out is what disrupts our own flow and intuition. That’s the real danger, not making an “incorrect” choice. It’s not a matter any individual choice being the right choice or wrong choice so much as it’s a matter of being “in the flow” versus not.

You think there’s only a single way to progress is life and if you make a wrong turn, there’s no other route? I don’t!

Being in the flow isn’t the specialty of a few, magical unicorn people. We all have the ability. You make the decision to be tuned in. You quiet your mind. You do your best to stay centered, no matter what is going on in the outside world. And you gracefully accept the fact, sometimes you won’t be there. That’s got to be okay, too, because it will happen. The fussing at ourselves over being off our game is a lot more destructive than actually being off our game. Nobody is on-game 100% of the time.

In short, you trust that the Universe will keep spinning, both in your personal life and the world at large. That’s the job of the Universe. Your job is to stay centered and decide to be well.

I expect next week to go very well if you make the decision right here and now, you WILL have a good week. Whatever you see, interpret it in that framework.

You can weigh out your decisions however you like, but once you’ve made one, stick by it. Stand behind yourself! Be your own biggest supporter and the outside world will step up to affirm what you already know. Otherwise, who knows what kind of ride it will be?

How are you at expecting it’s all good, even if you can’t see how right away?

If you’d like a little help reorienting, give me a holler for private consult.
