Chariot & Tower Reversed: Productive Obstacles

Everyone’s life is filled with those outcomes that didn’t work as expected. I would venture a guess that the ratio of works-as-expected vs. not is minuscule. But that doesn’t mean you’re off track.

Those relationships that broke up, or the jobs that fizzled or the plans that fell apart may have been upsetting. But in the bigger picture, they become a part of the fabric of who we are and they contribute immeasurably to outcomes. How much drama and pause they offer, however, is up to you.

When what I want isn’t coming together, I find it good to remind myself that what IS happening is still useful. And that’s pretty much the topic this week.

Next Week in Tarot

Chariot & Tower Reversed: Productive Obstacles 1

Our weekly outlook is the Chariot, with advice coming in as the Tower reversed from The Good Tarot. Two major arcana cards (and especially these two) makes me think the week is likely to feel eventful and significant.

The Chariot is associated with the zodiac sign of Cancer the crab. One thing I often find with the Chariot: success is assured with follow through, but progress will be indirect. Crabs move sideways.

The black and white horses on this card (shown as Sphinxes on the traditional Rider-Waite deck) are both shadow and light–suggesting the conscious use of all forces and inclinations to guide the journey. There’s no right and wrong implied: only an overriding goal.

And the Chariot is always taking it’s rider home. It could be a new home certainly, but consider the newness as reflecting a deeper truth, a more honest rendition of identity. Things are moving ahead, even if it seems like the process is taking a very meandering course.

The reversed Tower for advice tells us not to freak out and scrap everything in the midst of trouble. Expect PRODUCTIVE disruption. Understand that what’s happening now is part of the overall process and not “certain doom,” okay?

I know. That’s easier to say than to do. But perhaps taking a step back and a few deep breaths will be helpful anyway. When is it not?

I also think it’s worth noting, the Chariot is numbered 7 and the Tower reduces to a 7 as well. Tarot sevens point to powerful force, stamina and challenge as being central to achievement.  The key to mastering the sevens is following your inner guidance and convictions, even if that isolates you from the approval of others. Definitely, Tarot Sevens are a call to follow the guidance of heart and let the rest of the world do what it will.

Slow-go is better than no-go. In the obstacles, delays, and setbacks we learn and accomplish so much that is usually vital for our ultimate success. And hey, who doesn’t want “ultimate success?”

It’s all a part of the journey, man. Accept it as such, seek it’s usefulness and the trek will be much more pleasant to traverse.

Are you seeing indirect motion?

Five of Cups Rx: Making Space for the Next Step

It’s been a weird week, hasn’t it? At least for me, it has. I’ve heard plenty of reports that out in the wild, it’s been the same.

And my allergies have been acting up, even indoors. So I’m walking around for the last week with a vague impression I’m about to cry or have recently cried: my face feels emotional! And it’s especially odd because the physical sensations of proximity to tears seem to color my perceptions at the same time. I’ve felt like I need to be gentle with myself because of it, you know?

Not that’s ever really bad advice. I think being gentle with yourself an being gentle with everybody else is always a good idea.

Just be kind. And in particular, next week is a good time to practice that kindness.

Next Week in Tarot

Five of Cups Rx: Making Space for the Next Step 2

From The Star Tarot, this week’s outlook is the Five of Cups (coming in reversed) with advice as the Three of Wands (also reversed).

That R.E.M song comes to mind…Of course, it’s not the end of the world (even as we know it). It’s not even close.

But yeah…I do expect some space to open this week for most of us. Something ends. It may not be space you were looking to open up, though. Sorry about that.

Or maybe you’re somewhere similar to where I’ve been and feel a proximity to emotionality without a “logical” reason for it.

Doesn’t matter. Be kind and gentle, to yourself first and others you encounter. Feel whatever feelings show up. That’s what we do, right? Feel all the feelings and let them flow.

But when you’re done feeling the feelings, look ahead. Always, finish up by looking ahead. Being in the moment is always adequate preparation for taking the next step.

You won’t be able to see it clearly yet, but that’s okay. When we think we see clearly exactly what’s going to happen, that’s all an illusion anyway. At best, we can usually make out the next step or two.

And that’s enough. A little faith and the next step or two is all it takes.

How are you doing out there?

Nine of Cups: Self-Validating Unicorns

I’ve been noticing with special clarity lately how vastly dependent “good” and “bad” is on perspective.

It’s always been there. What’s fat or skinny, what’s rich or poor? And yes, even what’s good or bad–it’s all completely subjective. I’ve done enough weight loss support and talked to enough Tarot clients to say this without hesitation!

What’s more, these designations will alter not based upon the circumstance, but ALWAYS based on the in-the-moment perspective of the individual.

The job that seemed utterly perfect at one point may be considered the worst ever at another point (or even another point in the same week).  Same for the relationship or the house or the car or whatever it is you’re concerned with at any given moment. People I consider thin may worry about their weight. People who seem rich to me can be upset about money. It’s an internal state, NOT an external one.

And however you feel is however you feel and there is no rightness or wrongness about that. It just is.

And it makes sense to make peace with wherever you are at, because what choice do you have? It’s current. It’s where you are at. Feeling crummy about it doesn’t change it. It just makes it harder to change it.

That’s not equivalent to resignation, by the way. It’s actually what unsticks you, not anchors.

Being at peace with where you are gives you a choice where you go with it. You can lean into whatever feels a little better, a little more satisfying, from wherever you’re at. That can be steered with just a little effort, caring about feeling better over other considerations. Choosing the thoughts you follow based on what soothes.

Or you can lean into worry and tension and upset. It’s always up to you, which way you lean from where you’re at.

And I’m not going to tell you one is right and one is wrong, because I don’t see the world that way. But I will tell you, one feels better. That’s the one I like to pick.

And that’s the topic of the Tarot forecast for next week.

Next Week in the Cards

Nine of Cups: Self-Validating Unicorns 3

This week, for outlook we have the Nine of Cups (Water) with advice coming in as the Seven of Wands (Fire) from The Good Tarot.

Now, the Nine of Cups is definitely a card of satisfaction–a wish being fulfilled. (Were you wishing for Mercury to go direct? Granted!) So I would expect to have some relief in the coming week if you’ve been struggling. And if not, still expect there to be icing on your cake, okay? This looks good to me.

Interesting in terms of advice, though…that Seven of Wands. To keep the “satisfaction vibe” active, you may have to reject or ward off the opinions of others. This is easier to do than you may appear at first glance, but it definitely takes practice.

What someone else thinks of you? Doesn’t matter. Whether or not anybody else agrees on what’s best? Doesn’t matter. Who approves of what or how many people sign on to your vision? NONE of this matters, not even one tiny little bit.

Insecurity fuels seeking outside validation. That’s a short-lived reassurance because it can and does change based on where someone else is at, at any given moment. The only lasting form of security comes from within. There is no other route.

You be your fancy, unique Unicorn self and *%#% the rest of anything else, okay?

Take care out there!

And if you want a one-on-one check to clear your head here, give me a holler.

The Sun & Five of Pentacles: Managing the Messes

Yesterday, my Low Carb site was hacked, along with a friend’s (who I sometimes help out).

So I spent the day a little differently than I’d planned.

If I’d left it to tech support alone, it probably would have been fixed today or maybe tomorrow. But it was fixed within a couple of hours because I took an active role.

I didn’t do it alone, though.

Captain Virgo’s research helped me very quickly identify the source of the issue. Various websites provided a lot of clarification and insight on how to fix it. And tech support confirmed what I was finding was accurate.

I also didn’t sweat it. While I don’t run a hosting business anymore, I’m very glad for the lessons I learned when I did. One of the most valuable was to maintain an even emotional keel when something is broken because freaking out doesn’t do a damn thing to help fix it.

It’s a lot easier to think straight when you’re not having metaphorical kittens, man.

But in the end? I took responsibility. It’s my site (and my income) that was at stake. I may have needed help, but it was important that I participate for a quick resolution.

Next week looks kind of like that to me.

The Sun & Five of Pentacles: Managing the Messes 4

For the outlook, we have The Sun–Hello Spring! For advice, we’ve got the Five of Pentacles with The World for clarification. These cards are from what you can probably guess is one of my favorite decks, The Star Tarot.

As far as the outlook, I’d expect things to start lightening up. We just passed the Spring Equinox and the Sun has moved into Aries. So this isn’t terribly surprising.

With the weather (finally) warming up, I’m finding the open windows and stream of visitors at the Birdseed Oracle Cafe are lifting my spirits along with the temperatures. Not to mention, I’ve been counting down the days until Mercury goes direct again. I’m ready for motion forward! Can you feel the energy lightening up, too?

Enjoy the pleasantness to the fullest. Don’t discount the good by citing worries and woe to cancel it out. Because what’s good is no less good just because it’s not the entirety of our experience. If anything, the stuff that’s less wonderful makes what we do appreciate even more precious.

As far as advice? This week, don’t be too shy to ask for help if you need it–particularly from those more experienced than you. Do the responsible thing. Sometimes, that’s managing a mess on your own. Sometimes, that’s allowing someone else to provide support in cleaning up the mess. The important thing isn’t who does what right now, only that it gets completely done. Even if you need help, still take the lead on managing your own messes and either way, you’ll learn a lot in the process.

Strength Reversed: Look for the Sunshine

I’ve been working on another project this weekend and I’m tired of looking at the computer screen and fighting with my keyboard.

Because of course, the space and delete keys want to act up on me.  Hello, Mercury Retro! I see you!

So I’m going to keep it short and sweet this week.

Next Week in Tarot

Strength Reversed: Look for the Sunshine 5

This week for the outlook, we have Strength reversed. You may think you can’t do what you need to do. I’m getting this as a feeling of being worn down and probably a little angsty. Worried and maybe frustrated in general.

For advice, we have the Sun.

Make peace everything, okay? You are where you are and that is fine. It has to be, because what choice have you got?

If you start thinking about what’s annoying you, what you “can’t put up with anymore,” whatever has got you at your wit’s end? You’re going to have a Hell of a time putting up with it. You may still have to put up with it, mind you. But you’ll wonder if you’ll be able to do it.

That doesn’t sound like a fun ride if you ask me.

The Sun suggests we just do our best to be happy, like the children do. Not worried over what that person is thinking or whether or not something’s going to break down next week. Not thinking cranky thoughts about cranky people doing cranky things. Not trying to work it to get our way. Without agenda and without malice.

Just be in the moment.  Enjoy the sunshine, whatever bit you get. It’s all good and nothing else is going to help this week.

Enjoy the sunshine and look for it because you can always find at least a little, if you try at all.

The deck is the lovely Start Tarot. You can email me if you wanna talk one-on-one.

Take care, friends! ♥ ~Dix

Wheel Reversed: Mind Your Own Business

“I don’t know,” I said to a friend. “So many people are focused on what’s right with the world and what’s wrong with the world, as if it’s  it’s their personal responsibility to give a giant thumbs up or thumbs down on the rest of humanity.” I gesture, for added effect.

“I barely know what’s going on in MY head, let alone what’s going on everyone else’s heads. I am just not very interested in deciding what’s right and wrong for everybody else.”

I mean, if you like that sort of thing, I’m not going to try to talk you out of it. But for me? I’m a lot happier just staying in my own lane. That’s enough.

And staying in one’s own lane would be a very workable strategy for the coming week.

Next Week in Tarot

Wheel Reversed: Mind Your Own Business 6

This weak features the Wheel of Fortune Rx for the outlook and advice form the Page of Pentacles from Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot.

Maybe it looks like things aren’t going your way…or what you’d consider the “right way.” Don’t sweat it. The wheel spins too and fro and the time and even the folks that think they know what’s “good” and what’s “awful” cannot see the full picture. That takes perspective and knowledge of time and space people just don’t have.

So rather than worry over all these big questions, advice for the week is focus on the moment, the day-to-day details of what you’re doing now, on putting one foot in front of the other. Focus on taking care of physical needs and practical concerns and always, just doing the best you can with what you have to work with. This is a narrow field of vision here.

Appearances don’t matter. Long term projections are irrelevant. This week, be in the now and do the best you can with what you’ve got to work with. That’s your only job.

If you ask me? That’s enough.

Are you managing to stay in your own lane?

If you want some help navigating your lane, though, give me a holler for a private consult.
