Everyday Tarot, 06/26/11: Where do you put your faith?

daily-forecast-transparent-tarotPulling up the cards now that I selected for Everyday Tarot a couple days back, they seem way too much in sync with a reading I did yesterday. But of course, there must be a lesson in there for the rest of us. Else, we wouldn’t be seeing it now.

Today’s daily Tarot forecast is another three card spread from the Transparent Tarot.

  • Five of Cups or “Lord of Loss in Pleasure,” associated with Mars in Scorpio
  • The Hanged Man or “The Sprit of the Mighty Waters,” modernly associated with Neptune
  • Seven of Cups or “Lord of Illusionary Success,” associated with Venus in Scorpio

With both Scorpio and Neptune energy involved, we’re talking about deeply rooted feelings, and the choice lies within the Hanged Man’s watery realm—escape versus transcendence.

Escape is like remaining in the cocoon, telling yourself how perfect everything is outside. Transcendence requires acknowledging the spilled cups, allowing yourself to feel those pain it in expectation it will lead to transformation. Neither are especially easy.

I guess the real answer is in where you lay your faith—is it in the power of your desires to shape your experience or the power of your love to heal whatever hurts arise?

What do you see here? Do you know where your faith lies?

  1. Escape, denial, delusion, cocoons, acceptance, transcendence, transformation. Not the least bit easy, but boy is it empowering to get a few of these cycles under the belt. I have felt devastated when my hope and faith got disappointed and shattered, but have learned better about where to put and keep it now. It seems like building on a weak foundation to put it solely or mostly in outer circumstances, people, etc.. It is so nice to be able to rely on other people and all, but my bottom line these days is about becoming a more reliable and secure foundation for myself… knowing how to return to love and well-being and faith and trust in some kind of higher and truly reliable power guiding and looking out for me, even when outer stuff is… challenging or seems like it is going wrong!

Thanks for the many helpful and insightful reminders related to this aspect of this journey!

  2. Oh, Dixie, that’s such a hard question to answer. We can’t always shape outside circumstances to fit our desires, but it can be really difficult for a heart to heal when it’s been shattered.

What of those who have lost all faith? (Is that pure 5 of Cups?) Where to begin the healing process? I love what you said in your 5 of Cups post, “Fight (Mars) your way through the depths (Scorpio), to understand the whole picture.” Not until there’s understanding can we set out on the right path toward healing.

    Big giant hugs to you.
