One of my websites was a mess. I set about to fix it last night and it took me…I dunno. Six hours? Eight hours? Something like that. A tedious process, one page, one post at a time.
But I’m not looking for sympathy.
I could have easily gotten mad about the update that broke my site. Or cussed the developers and sent them nasty emails and social media complaints insisting they fix what they broke. The thought did cross my mind. I felt that decision point acutely, once I realized what was going on. Be upset or just dig in and do it?
Truth or not, blame wasn’t going to fix my mess, and it certainly wasn’t going to make me feel any better. Blame feels lousy–and powerless. The only thing that was going to fix my mess was me! And it could be hard–I could angry and upset for the hours I worked on it. Or it could be easy–glad I have the skills and knowledge to figure out what needed to be done and the time to just sit down and do it.
One step, one step, one step at a time. Methodically, clearly, one step at a time. Each step takes us closer.
There are lot of things in this world like this. Life is messy and sticky and sometimes, kind of ouchy. You know? I use a trivial example but in the big scheme of existence, it’s the same principles holding for issues big or small. Most of the time, fault doesn’t matter. Only desired outcome matters. Only focus matters.
Focus and perspective determine your subjective experience. And we’re damn lucky that’s the case. Because perspective is self-induced and self-directed. Meaning we have control, and the freedom to decide what our experience is going to feel like. This is going to depend entirely on you. And this coming week is kind of like that.
This week? Would be a good idea to be aware of your perspective. We’ve got a mix of suits, with several inverted cards at the beginning of the week. So expect a slowish start, but it is what it is Overall, the questions, “How big a deal is this, really? What can I do to get where I want to be?” will serve you very well here.
Monday, Eight of Swords rx: Those doors that feel closed and locked are not locked and they are only closed because you’ve decided they are. You have options, always. Right here and right now, you have options you have not been seeing. Today, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of those options if you’re open to that. You can make significant and quite perceptible shifts if you take advantage of this window of opportunity. Look for them! Don’t be the only thing standing in your own way, dude.
Tuesday, Three of Cups rx: Some comfort in chitchatting with friends and social communities, but it’s incomplete. Whatever you share, be judicious about it. And be aware of how invested you are in other people’s lives. There is support, but it’s good to always retain status as one’s own guiding light.
Wednesday, Page of Swords rx: If you are signing agreements, read twice. Potential for something “just not quite right” in written material. Also potential for lies to be flitted about. If you can wait to sign an agreement, that would be good. If you cannot, that’s okay; for contract or verbal agreements, though, double check the particulars.
Thursday, Ten of Swords: Many may be feeling overwhelmed with too much to do, think, handle, or figure out. Too much, too much, too much! Pace yourself, prioritize and don’t take on too much. And please don’t criticize yourself for being where you are. Just a little at a time, a little at a time, and feel good about every single step. One step at a time.
Friday, Strength: This vibe feels easier and more stable today. To deal with the flavor of yesterday’s energy, Strength suggests a gentle, but persistent approach, a light touch, over and over works well. Don’t go in gangbusters during the time. Deal gently, lightly, easily, confidently, a little and a little and a little and keep going. You’ve got what it takes to manage what you need to. Use a light touch, being persistent. Not insistent, persistent.
Saturday, Seven of Wands rx: Could express this energy as going along with the crowd even though you don’t agree, or as someone going underground with their beliefs and feelings to avoid conflict. It could manifest even as unexpected support for your convictions from quarters you didn’t expect. Just be aware of polarization and don’t hesitate to withdraw and eep your own counsel. Nothing wrong with that.
Sunday, Four of Wands rx: Would rather see it upright, but still a nice card. You can have harmony, a safe and happy place. as long as you don’t insist everyone feels and thinks they way you do. You can have an oasis in the storm but you have to create it yourself and carry it around with you. In other words, it’s built on internal perspective.Peace of mind is always homemade. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet
Overview/Advice, Five of Cups rx: Be aware of potential for emotional overreaction and making a much bigger deal of things than they need to be. This is a vibe at large and MAN are we seeing it all over the place! Take a deep breath (or 100), dial it back and let it play out before declaring the world as we know it has ended. Slow down.
Affirmation: I am willing to let go. There have been times I’ve been convinced things MUST go a certain way because it mattered so much. Sometimes, it did go my way but lots of times, not really. Not even close. And the world somehow didn’t implode. The suffering I felt was directly related to my willingness to let go of what was not within my control and live my own life and not try to fix others’ lives. Even others I loved very, very much. Whether it’s kids, spouse, friends, family, country, or, or, or, whoever it is, the only way it can stay alive and active in your experience is if you focus with thoughts, feelings, etc. The more energy you put into it, the more you attract of a similar feeling tone. If you don’t like it, give it as little attention as possible. Let it go and move on!
How are you doing managing your perspective?
